Bertram Allison Cranmer; Private, Labour Corps.

Bertram, the second son of Samuel and Emily, was born in Woodbridge on 27th August 1880. Bertram married Henrietta Jane Harvey in 1907; they had two daughters. In 1911, the family was living on Chapel Street, Woodbridge, where Bertram worked as a seedsman.

In 1916, Bertram was called up and posted to join the 1st London Regiment. From there he was transferred to the Labour Corps with whom he remained for the rest of the war.

For his war service, Bertram received the British War and Victory Medals. In 1939, Bertram and his wife Henrietta were living in Bolton Lane, Ipswich, where he was working as a park attendant and gardener. During the Second World War, he served as a member of an Air Raid Precaution Heavy Rescue Team. Bertram died in Ipswich in 1956.
