Frank Baldwin Heath was born in Stoke Newington, London, on 5th October 1891. His mother, Alice Emily, married her second husband, Ernest George Capon, in 1895 and by 1911 the family was living at Ash House on Melton Hill and Frank was working as a butcher’s apprentice.
Frank enlisted into the Suffolk Yeomanry on 11th February 1915. He was posted to the 2/1st Suffolk Yeomanry, formed in January 1915 as a second-line battalion to prepare new soldiers for joining the 1st Suffolk Yeomanry. Frank was found to be unfit for service due to his poor eyesight. He was discharged on 15th April 1916 as “physically unfit for war service” and was awarded the Silver War Badge.
In the summer of 1915, Frank married Ethel May Harvey in Woodbridge and they had two children. Ethel died in 1919 leaving Frank to bring up the family. In 1939 he was living in Castle Street, Woodbridge, as a shopkeeper. Frank died in 1972 and is buried in Woodbridge Cemetery.
